Magyar Nemzet, Nov. 12., Tuesday

According to Bárándy Péter (Attorney General, Justice Minister) we’ve been living in a democracy for the past 12 years and in this situation it is acceptable for us to cut back on freedom of speech. The question is whether this is justified at present time or not. It is the state’s duty to tell what can be sold in a bookstore according to Bárándy. But he hopes that Hungary will become a country where even Mein Kampf is available on the shelves.

Medgyessy Péter: In agreement with the nation (the MSZP’s election campaign program for 2002)
"We will restore the democratic law-state"
"(...) My government respects the freedom of press and will stop interference of politics into media affairs (...)"
